Major milestone in 2008:
Financial sustainability achieved
In
2008, for the first time, tuition from those students who could
afford to pay covered all University operating expenses. (About half
of Ashesi students receive aid; about 20% come from extreme
poverty.) Donors move Ashesi forward--funding the much-needed new
campus, extending more scholarships, and creating new programs.
Graduation May 30, 2009:
Seniors creating great
projects, and on track for great jobs
Over
50 seniors are now completing major projects. One student is
adapting mobile software to allow nurses in rural areas to use cell
phones to diagnose disease; another is measuring the effectiveness
of radio ads in English vs. local languages. Read more at
Ashesi News 2009.
Despite the tough economy, the Ashesi
class of 2009 is on-track for 100% placement
within 6 months of graduating! Soon, there will be over 170 Ashesi
grads working for lasting progress and change in Africa.
