Ashesi University Bulletin                                   December 2007

Commencement 2007

Graduate Profile: Sulemana Mohammed

Sulemana Mohammed was recognized as the best Corporate Finance student with both the Torvinyo and IC Securities awards.  The awards included a cash prize of over 300 Ghana Cedis and a guaranteed employment contract to work at IC Securities, one of Ghana's top financial management firms.

Sulemana enrolled at Ashesi on scholarship and is the first person in his family to graduate from a university.  During his time at Ashesi, he participated in student government, worked as an intern at two of Ghana’s top financial services firms, and led several community service projects in rural communities outside Accra.  His thesis, an analysis of risk assessment practices at six microfinance organizations, is his attempt to help these institutions lower loan rates for their clients – the urban poor.

He states, “Ashesi has allowed me to distinguish myself and to become outstanding. I am sure I will be able to find a good job and will be able to help others in my family.”
