Profile: David Darkwa

David Kwasi Darkwa is this year's top student,
graduating with a cumulative GPA of 3.72 (Magna Cum Laude).
David majored in Management Information Systems. At Ashesi, he helped start the University’s Investment Society and served
as its Vice President. He happens to be the hundredth person to graduate from
the University.
David has been selected for an internship by Microsoft Research India. David is
the second student to be selected for their summer internship programme from
Ashesi University. He will be working with the Technology for Emerging
Markets group in Bangalore, India from June through August 2008. He will be
working with Dr. Kentaro Toyama, Assistant Managing Director for Microsoft
Research India.
The Technology for Emerging Markets group engages in Computer Science and
Information Technology Research, and examines the social relevance of these
technologies in the developing world.
He will be working with people with backgrounds in sociology, political science
as well as economics. Microsoft Research India was set up in January 2005 to
develop technological innovations to be applied in the emerging markets of the
developing world. It is the sixth lab Microsoft has established worldwide, with
sister labs in Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom. |
