The office of the Dean of Academic Affairs is committed to fostering a stimulating intellectual environment in which both faculty and students excel in teaching and learning. The work of the Dean of Academic Affairs is to support the academic priorities and goals of the University and to ensure that Ashesi students are provided with a world class educational experience. In this respect, the main responsibility of the Dean of Academic Affairs is to promote an environment supportive of Ashesi’s mission and vision.

Ashesi’s mission is to train a new generation of ethical and entrepreneurial leaders in Africa. The university’s academic programmes, extracurricular offerings and school policies are designed to nurture excellence in scholarship, leadership and citizenship not only within students but also within our faculty and administration. Faculty members balance scholarship, leadership and citizenship in their fields with a keen sense of dedication to students through classroom instruction, extra- curricular offerings, field work experiences and community based projects. This is the hallmark of teaching and learning at Ashesi. Other responsibilities of the Dean of Academic Affairs include among others the following:

• Development of curriculum and academic programmes;
• Oversight responsibility for grading and the academic schedule, accreditation of academic programmes and evaluation of faculty teaching performance;
• Co-coordinating the `development of course outlines/syllabi, instructional practices, examination techniques and grading procedures.
• Student advising and course reviews
• Participating in the development and implementation of the University’s academic policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Promoting the professional development of faculty and participating in and overseeing the selection, hiring and other personnel decisions associated with the faculty;
• Promoting partnership with constituents in the external educational, professional and business communities.

Ashesi Programme

Ashesi University College is a four year undergraduate university. It is a small university designed to have a big impact. Ashesi is a close knit intellectual community of learning and discovery which ensures that the following institutional values are instilled in each student.
